Being a grandparent is a blessing you cherish. each and every one of my grandchildren and my world I love each and every one of them to pieces I don’t know what I would do some days without my grandchildren right from the youngest to the oldest they give me many laughs They give me such joy and sometimes a little anger especially when their disrespectful but overall grandchildren are on of life’s greatest treasures You can have the pleasure of spoiling them and sending them home or you can have the pleasure of spoiling them and keeping them overnight my grandkids are spoiled but required to respect their elders Just like my children when I was raising them are a little spoiled and a whole lot respectful And look around and see some of the kids today that are Totally disrespectful not only to their parents but to others my children would have never dared to be disrespectful to an adult or myself or their father because they knew what the consequences were. I raised my children as I was raised, to respect others, help others and respect other people’s things. When I see kids bring guns to school shootings or any number of other things these kids do today I cringe I grew up around guns and I never would have thought to even touch them much less take one to school when I went to school it was nothing to see the boys caring knives But they never came out of there sheaths I grew up in a world where you respected your elders and helped others. We grew up playing outside wandering the neighborhood it’s never locked our doors rode on the back of pickup trucks Playing in the Brooke went sliding downhill in the dark had friends that we played games with hide and seek kick the can tag and many other games that we thought up We were watching TV other than maybe the news or cartoons on Saturday morning other than that we didn’t have TV we weren’t interested in TV We would rather be out riding our bikes and playing outside as I Look around the kids today I see them Having their nose stuck in electronics the TV there is no more reading there is no more riding bikes there is no more playing outside there is no more camaraderie of having your friends outside playing with you there is no more respect there is no more problem-solving fort building There is no more sliding downhill in a long time building snowman or even playing outside it’s just sad the world that we live in today our children will never experience the kind a childhood that we grew up with children today I don’t even know what a chore is much less have us arrive in the world the value of money is not even a concept to them they come straight from college expecting to make $100,000 a year without earning it they think a minimum wage job is beneath them they feel their entitlement is a birthright not because they have accomplished it.
